Terms of Sale
Made For Time Ltd · Last updated: 19 October 2026
These Terms of Sale apply to purchases of luxury watches and other goods from Made For Time Ltd, whether made through our website, at our Hertford showroom or through an agreed distance-selling arrangement.
Please read these terms before making a purchase or reservation. By placing an order or entering into a reservation agreement, you acknowledge the applicable terms provided before the transaction.
Nothing in these Terms of Sale affects your statutory consumer rights.
1. About Us
Made For Time Ltd is an independent luxury watch retailer registered in England and Wales under Company Number 15433313.
Registered Office and Showroom
Made For Time Ltd
7 Fore Street
Hertford
SG14 1DA
United Kingdom
Telephone: 01992 329089
Email: info@madefortime.com
Website: www.madefortime.com
We specialise in buying, selling, sourcing and authenticating luxury timepieces, offering a personal and transparent service through our Hertford showroom and online.
2. Formation of Contract
All watches displayed on our website are subject to availability and confirmation.
Product listings constitute an invitation to purchase rather than a binding contractual offer.
A contract of sale is formed when Made For Time Ltd accepts your order, normally by issuing written confirmation, including by email, or by completing an agreed in-store transaction.
An automated acknowledgement of an online order does not necessarily constitute acceptance.
We reserve the right to decline an order before acceptance where, for example, a watch has already been sold, there has been an obvious pricing error, or necessary payment or security verification cannot be completed.
Where payment has been received for an order we cannot accept, it will be refunded without undue delay.
Each completed purchase will be supported by appropriate transaction documentation.
3. Pricing & Payment
All website prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP).
Prices include any applicable VAT where chargeable. Certain pre-owned watches may be sold under the VAT Margin Scheme, in which case VAT will not be separately itemised on the invoice.
The price confirmed at checkout or in an accepted written sales agreement is the agreed purchase price.
We reserve the right to correct genuine pricing or description errors before accepting an order. Any changes will be clearly communicated before the customer proceeds.
Accepted Payment Methods
Made For Time Ltd accepts:
- Major credit and debit cards, excluding American Express (Amex).
- Secure online card payments through our website.
- Card payments at our Hertford showroom.
- Direct UK bank transfers using verified payment instructions.
Bank transfer details will be supplied through our official invoice or confirmed correspondence. Customers are encouraged to verify payment instructions directly with our showroom before transferring funds.
For security and fraud prevention, purchases may be subject to reasonable identity, payment and transaction verification.
Watches will only be dispatched or released once the agreed purchase price has been received in full and cleared.
For further information, please refer to our Payment & Security Policy.
4. Reservations & Deposits
We understand that purchasing a luxury timepiece is a significant decision. To provide customers with flexibility, we offer reservations on selected watches.
Standard Reservation Payment: £500
A £500 reservation payment may be made through our website, in person at our Hertford showroom or by an agreed bank transfer.
Reservation Period: Seven Calendar Days
Once the reservation payment has been received and the reservation confirmed, the selected watch will be held exclusively for the customer for seven calendar days.
During this period:
- The watch will be reserved and removed from general availability.
- The £500 payment will be deducted from the agreed final purchase price.
- The customer may arrange payment of the remaining balance, collection or delivery.
- The outstanding balance must be settled within the seven-day reservation period unless an extension has been agreed.
Extensions
Reservation extensions may be considered upon request and must be confirmed by Made For Time Ltd in writing.
Expired Reservations & Refunds
If the purchase is not completed within seven calendar days and no extension has been agreed, the reservation will expire and the watch may be made available for sale again.
Under our standard reservation arrangement, the £500 payment will be refunded if the reservation expires without a completed purchase.
Customers may also request cancellation before the reservation expires. Refunds will be handled in accordance with the agreed reservation terms and applicable statutory consumer rights.
Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method and processed without undue delay, within the applicable legal timeframe.
A reservation deposit will not automatically be forfeited solely because the seven-day period has expired.
Special Sourcing Requests
A deposit paid for a bespoke watch-sourcing service is separate from our standard in-stock reservation arrangement.
Where a customer instructs Made For Time Ltd to locate a specific watch, the arrangement will be governed by a separate written sourcing agreement setting out the service, deposit, cancellation and refund terms.
Any such agreement remains subject to applicable consumer law and statutory cancellation rights.
5. Delivery & Risk
Made For Time Ltd offers complimentary, fully insured UK delivery on watch purchases.
Our standard delivery service includes:
- Free insured UK delivery.
- Secure tracking.
- Signature confirmation on receipt.
- Protective packaging suitable for luxury timepieces.
Where possible, orders will be dispatched promptly following receipt of cleared payment and completion of the necessary security checks.
We normally aim for delivery on the next working day following dispatch, although delivery dates are estimates unless expressly agreed as guaranteed.
Delivery times may vary according to location, courier availability, weekends, bank holidays and security requirements.
Higher-value timepieces, including watches requiring specialist insured courier arrangements, may be subject to individually agreed delivery procedures.
International delivery may be available by agreement, with shipping charges and any applicable customs or import responsibilities confirmed before purchase.
Unless otherwise agreed, goods will be delivered within the timeframe required by applicable consumer law.
Transfer of Risk
For consumer purchases, responsibility for the watch passes to the customer when the watch is physically received by the customer or a person nominated by them, other than the carrier, subject to any applicable statutory exceptions.
For showroom collections, responsibility passes upon collection by the customer or their authorised representative.
Further information is available in our Delivery & Returns Policy.
6. Title & Ownership
Legal ownership of a watch remains with Made For Time Ltd until the full agreed purchase price has been received in cleared funds.
A reservation payment alone does not transfer ownership of the timepiece.
Once full payment has cleared and the sale has been completed, ownership transfers to the purchaser in accordance with applicable law.
Made For Time Ltd will not knowingly sell a watch without proper authority to do so.
7. Returns & Cancellation
Made For Time Ltd aims to provide a transparent and fair purchasing experience.
All returns and cancellations are handled in accordance with applicable UK consumer legislation, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Online & Distance Purchases
Where a consumer purchases a watch through a qualifying online or distance-selling arrangement, they normally have the right to cancel the contract within 14 calendar days after receiving the watch, without giving a reason.
To exercise this right, customers must notify Made For Time Ltd clearly by email, telephone or other accepted written communication within the cancellation period.
After notifying us of cancellation, customers have a further 14 calendar days to return the watch.
Condition of Returned Watches
Customers may inspect and try on a watch to the extent reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning, as they would in a retail showroom.
Returned watches should be securely packaged and accompanied by all originally supplied accessories, including any applicable box, warranty cards, papers, spare bracelet links and other items included in the purchase.
Where a customer has handled a watch beyond what is reasonably necessary for inspection and its value has consequently diminished, Made For Time Ltd may make a lawful and proportionate deduction from the refund.
The condition and completeness of returned items will be assessed fairly and in accordance with statutory consumer rights.
Return Shipping
For a cancellation based on a change of mind, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the watch unless otherwise agreed or required by law.
Due to the value of the products we sell, we strongly recommend contacting our showroom before arranging a return so that an appropriate tracked and insured delivery method can be agreed.
Where goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to comply with the contract, return arrangements and reasonable costs will be dealt with in accordance with applicable consumer law.
Refunds
Refunds will be issued using the original payment method unless the customer expressly agrees otherwise.
For a qualifying distance-sale cancellation, refunds will be processed without undue delay and within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or receiving satisfactory evidence that they have been sent back, whichever occurs first, where permitted by law.
Where goods have not been supplied and no return is required, the applicable refund deadline runs from notification of cancellation.
We will not impose a refund processing fee where prohibited by law.
In-Store Purchases
Purchases completed in person at our Hertford showroom do not automatically carry a statutory right to return goods solely because the customer has changed their mind.
Any discretionary change-of-mind return must be agreed with Made For Time Ltd.
This does not affect the customer's rights if the watch is faulty, misdescribed or otherwise fails to conform to the contract.
Special Orders & Sourced Watches
Sourcing arrangements may be subject to separately agreed written terms.
An item is not automatically excluded from statutory cancellation rights merely because it was sourced at a customer's request.
Any legally applicable exception for genuinely personalised or bespoke goods will be explained before the relevant agreement is entered into.
How to Cancel
Customers wishing to exercise a statutory cancellation right may email info@madefortime.com with their name, order number, item purchased, date of receipt and a clear statement that they wish to cancel.

8. Authenticity & Warranty
Made For Time Ltd is committed to selling genuine luxury timepieces, accurately described and professionally inspected.
Every watch undergoes authentication and condition checks before sale.
Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity
All watches sold by Made For Time Ltd benefit from our Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.
If a timepiece purchased from Made For Time Ltd is subsequently proven not to be genuine by its manufacturer or an authorised brand service centre, we will refund the full original purchase price in accordance with our authenticity guarantee.
12-Month Mechanical Warranty
Pre-owned watches supplied without an active manufacturer's warranty include a 12-month Made For Time mechanical warranty, commencing from the date of delivery or collection.
Where an active manufacturer's warranty remains in place, that warranty applies first and we can assist with the manufacturer's service process.
Our mechanical warranty covers qualifying movement and timekeeping defects arising from normal intended use.
Certain matters, including accidental damage, cosmetic wear, water ingress, misuse and unauthorised intervention, are excluded from the contractual warranty as detailed in our published policy.
These exclusions do not remove or restrict statutory rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods.
All warranty enquiries will be assessed according to the applicable warranty conditions and consumer legislation.
Full details are available in our Warranty & Authenticity Policy.
9. Limitation of Liability
Made For Time Ltd takes reasonable care to ensure products are accurately described, securely handled and supplied in accordance with the agreed terms.
Nothing in these Terms of Sale limits or excludes liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Breach of statutory consumer rights.
- Any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
Where we fail to comply with these terms, we remain responsible for loss or damage that is a reasonably foreseeable consequence of our breach or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill, subject to applicable law.
We do not guarantee that a watch will appreciate in value, retain a particular resale price or provide any financial return.
Market commentary, product descriptions and historical pricing information are provided for general information and do not constitute a guarantee of future investment performance.
Nothing in this section affects remedies available to customers under applicable consumer legislation.
10. Governing Law
These Terms of Sale are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Disputes will be handled by the courts with jurisdiction under applicable law.
Customers residing in Scotland, Northern Ireland or another jurisdiction retain any mandatory consumer protections and court rights that cannot lawfully be excluded by these terms.
We encourage customers to contact Made For Time Ltd first so that any concern can be investigated and, where possible, resolved fairly and promptly.
11. Changes to These Terms
Made For Time Ltd may update these Terms of Sale from time to time to reflect changes in our operations, services or applicable legislation.
Any changes will be published on our website with an updated revision date.
The terms applicable to a completed purchase will normally be those provided and agreed at the time the relevant contract was formed.
We will not retrospectively change an existing customer's contractual rights without a lawful basis or their agreement where required.
