The Legacy
A Heritage of
Precision & Purpose
Founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Saxony, A. Lange & Söhne established Germany as a force in fine watchmaking. After the manufacture was expropriated in 1948 under Soviet occupation, Walter Lange — Ferdinand's great-grandson — re-founded the brand in 1990, just weeks after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The Lange 1, launched in 1994, announced the brand's triumphant return with its asymmetric dial, outsize date and distinctive German silver three-quarter plate. The Zeitwerk's jumping numerals, the Datograph's legendary chronograph movement, and the Tourbograph Perpetual's supreme complications have since cemented Lange's place among the very finest watchmakers on Earth.

Glashütte Tradition
Every Lange movement is assembled twice — first to check tolerances, then disassembled, cleaned and reassembled to perfection. Hand-engraved balance cocks and untreated German silver plates develop a unique patina over time.
